There is nothing quite like receiving a surprise letter, poem or picture in the post to start the day with a smile.

After finding these blank postcards, in a morning-after-a-wedding hotel room haze, I could not wait to make a stamp on the crisp white surface, and treat a few friends to an anonymous smile.

Blank Postcards

Recently, I have been feeling nostalgic for childhood story times, so took ‘Winnie the Pooh’ as my arty inspiration (the original E.H. Shepard illustrations rather than Disney). After going stencil crazy here, I decided some simple stamping would do the trick.

Step-by-Step

  1. Mark out your illustration lightly in pencil.
  2. Shade any block shapes with coloured pencil.
  3. Using a thick and thin black graphic pen, shade in outlines and hatch over colour areas.

Tip: E.H. Shepard used feathered outlines so don’t worry about being too neat, a bit of a wobble looks great!

Pick up a copy of ‘Winnie the Pooh: Complete Collection of Stories and Poems’ by A.A. Milne, for a cosy autumnal bedtime companion.
